Needle-Free Methods

The system of Chinese medicine may be applied to the art of healing without the use of acupuncture needles. The diagnosis and treatment are decided as usual, and then needle-free methods, traditional or modern, can be used to stimulate the acupuncture points.

Some examples of this include the use of tiny seeds or metal beads applied to the skin with medical adhesive to stimulate points on the ear. Points on the ear or the body may also be stimulated using safe, gentle, electrical current.

Depending on the condition, these methods may be beneficial. Their effect is generally milder than a standard acupuncture treatment. Herbs may be combined with these methods to supplement the overall effect.
